Overview

AI-Powered Knowledge Base for Carbon Literacy

Problem

This project addressed the growing need for organisations to adapt to the challenges posed by global warming. Many businesses require accessible and comprehensive information to enhance their carbon literacy and take effective action. This project aims to use AI to create a searchable knowledge base that increases carbon literacy and helps organizations implement climate-positive strategies.

Solution

FlowFoundry's solution uses Large Language Models (LLMs) in combination with Knowledge Graphs (FlowSynapse) to create a searchable and interactive knowledge base. The LLM is trained on climate change literature and sustainability practices, while the Knowledge Graph structures the information in a way that makes it easily navigable. Together, these technologies allow users to ask specific questions, such as, "What actions can my organization take to reduce carbon emissions?" and receive detailed, actionable responses.

Key Aspects of the Project

  1. Data Integration and Knowledge Graph Development We gather data from scientific literature, industry reports, and sustainability best practices to create a comprehensive dataset. The Knowledge Graph organises this data to represent relationships between various concepts, such as carbon reduction methods and their impact.
  2. Model Training for Climate Understanding The LLM is trained on climate-related content, allowing it to understand the language and principles of carbon literacy. This training enables the model to provide insightful answers to user queries related to sustainability and climate action.
  3. Interactive Search Capability Users can interact with the knowledge base through natural language queries. The LLM interprets these queries, retrieves relevant information from the Knowledge Graph, and delivers comprehensive, easy-to-understand answers, increasing accessibility to complex sustainability information.
  4. Actionable Insights for Organizations The system provides actionable insights tailored to the specific needs of organisations. It helps businesses understand the practical steps they can take to reduce their carbon footprint, improve sustainability practices, and adapt to global warming challenges.
